Prayer

I read this great and challenging quote on the plane ride home today from "Before the Throne of God," a book on prayer:

"Prayer has often been compared to the physical act of breathing. Both actions are prompted by the same type of distress. Just as the physical atmosphere around us put pressure on our lungs and stimulates them to breathe, the spiritual atmosphere of our lives puts pressure on our souls and stimulates them to pray. The more effectively we breathe, the more we enjoy our physical existence. And the more effectively we pray, the more we enjoy our relationship with the Father."
