I'm here!

We made it here safe and sound yesterday after a crazy flight. We ended up getting rebooked on the inagural flight from Atlanta to Edinburgh instead of our British Air because it was overbooked. But we got $400 each and were met by bagpipers, free stuff, and balloons on each side of the flight. I couldn't help but keep saying "piper down, we had a piper down". Bagpipers always make anything way more interesting.

 

We did also get a good layover in London as planned and were able to ride the subway (mind the gap!!) to the center of the city where we ate and walked around. Carly, Fouk (Leslee) and I had the greatest ice cream called Cadbury Flake. The ice cream truck we bought it off of had "mind that child" written on the back. Hilarious. We got a picture.

 

What a warm welcome we got in Nairobi by Pastor Imbumi and the 4 translators that will be with us all the time. We are staying at a really nice guest house called Subiaco and I feel very safe and taken care of. Yesterday afternoon we had an orientation by Imbumi and his wife and the translators. We are set to start work in the slums on Monday.

Here are some prayer requests:

-for our team, that we would be unified with the Makuku's, translators (Mary, Caroline, John, and James) and that we would be open and honest with each other.

-that we would be patient learners of the cultures

-that God would continue to bless us with good health and safety

-that we would also be diligent in prayer and bible study, as that will be what will sustain us as we start to get over the "all is well" stage of culture shock.
