Wednesday of next week I am officially starting my language learning with Nadia, a really cool Ethiopian gal that is in university here in Atlanta. She has agreed to take up the courageous task of teaching me Amharic!
I was reading something in one of my fave devos called "Jesus Calling" and came across these verses which I think will be my theme for learning a new language: "Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should. Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone." ~Colossians 4:2-6
Trying to learn the heart language of Ethiopians I imagine will be the one of the most rewarding yet humbling experiences for me. I covet your prayers! As we learned at our training in Belgium "learn another language, gain another soul."
